Who Needs Church On a Sunday ...

Sunday, November 5

Sunday was our day to try to find a civil war geocoin for DeepDigger. He's a civil war nut, so I wanted to get these for him. Unfortunately, one of the geocoins was on a military base, and in order to get to it, you need a pass. No passes are given out on Sundays, so we were out of luck. Also unfortunately, the other civil war geocoin was picked up on Saturday, so we couldn't get that one either. Hopefully it will turn up in another cache.

We were really looking forward to caching, though, so we took off down the Interstate towards Crestview. I remembered reading about two caches at rest areas when looking at Crestview caches, so I made sure to get some printouts of the coordinates. They weren't at the rest areas I originally thought they'd be at, but rather at two rest areas on the other side of Crestview, about 10 miles past. I didn't mind the drive, so we hit them up. The first one was Crestview I-10 Eastbound (GCMBJ2), since we were going east. It was a camo box hanging from a tree near the off ramp. There was a travel bug in there that consisted of socks. The story read something about two people who used to live in Africa together, and the socks needed to get from one person to the other. I don't remember, but I wasn't about to take a sock travel bug. We took a little dinosaur figure and left some dice.

Then we drove across the street to Crestview I-10 Westbound (GCMBJ4). This one was actually a little difficult. We parked and ran into the woods and hunted around for it for about 5 minutes. Finally I saw it, but I wanted the Dancer to find it, so I waited until she found it to say anything. We took some jacks and left a Star Wars Burger King watch.

After that we visited my mom for a little while, but Dancer was still aching for more caching, so we looked up one more from my moms house. The Evil Empire Comes To Florida (GCXF9C) turned out to be right near Wal-mart, but we sure couldn't find it. We gave up after about 15 minutes because there were some workers there who were semi checking us out. Hopefully we'll find it another time.

Again, no pictures. :)
